The quest for civic education is bigger than ever before. The challenge is to reconcile the demands of an
increasingly technology-driven, interdependent and global complexity with the recent rise of populism
and democratic retreat. With the Civics Innovation Hub (CIH) we will gather and connect people coming
from different countries and divers professional backgrounds, such as life sciences, architecture,
business, big-data/digitalization/media, migration and others. In a two-year process CIH will serve as a
platform for both, transnational and transdisciplinary exchange and learning for professionals of civic
education as well as transfer of civic education tools to other disciplines. The project is supported by the
bpb in the context of NECE and initiated by Sofia Platform, Bulgaria and lab concepts, Germany. It will be kick-started in Marseille in September 2018.
